Altruism v philanthropy
Xmas is a coming, and the begging bowls are out.You will see horrific pictures of dying children pressuring you to give your hard earned cash to save a life, but where does the money really go?
The so called good people who run these charities are on massive wages. They pay their salaries from our money, and justify it by waving the charity flag. The news recently reported armed forces charities were holding back 220 billion in funds for our service personal living on the streets, why?
I was seeing a girl a few years back who told me her story. She was a nurse who got so annoyed with her two young children moaning about what they wanted, and what their friends were getting for xmas. She booked flights to an African country, packed 6 big suitcases, and headed off to donate all their presents with them watching. A bit harsh I thought, but she wanted to make her point. They hired a car and driver to take them to and from their modest 2 star hotel. They visited small villages and donated their toys, old mobile phones, cloths and anything else she could fit into their cases.
She asked her driver about the big hotel they passed everyday with the big expensive cars parked outside. Who are these people she asked? Her guide explained, they are all the big charities, those are their cars, and if you look, they spend their days around the pool and the bars. These people were earning a minimum of 200k pa and living a life of luxury with our money, they make my skin crawl.
You can google their earnings, don't just take my word.
