Croke park.
A couple of years ago whilst playing poker in Ireland, I got chatting some irish guys, as you do. The drinks were flowing, and they were a great set of guys. The conversation took a strange direction, and I never saw it coming. I guess it was my shear ignorance, I really had no idea. So you don't know about bloody Sunday? Yes, 1972 I think? They gathered around me, quite imposing and a little scary. They explained on 21st Nov 1920 the black cats(English army) butchered civilians and football players, under the orders of Winston Churchill. I told them I had no idea, and felt ashamed. They sat with me for hours and went over the potato famine, bloody Sunday and other atrocities that our elected leaders inflicted on the Irish people. These things are not taught in our schools. They then went on to explain how the English brutalised the world, USA,Austrailia, India and many more.
All the information is online, and that's the best place to get it. These things should be taught in our schools in my opinion.
